Episode Fourteen

In Episode Fourteen The Laird is somewhat of a literary wanker, referencing Hemingway and Kundera. Shameless. But Paris will have her way and compel us to feel things and to know things and she will come with us on our chosen roads.

Tabac Tabac is about one of those moments when many things are felt and known very suddenly. We can all hope to be open to these generous gestures from the universe. The soundtrack is a delightful kaleidoscope of sounds, a lost young man in Paris, doing what he can with what he’s got.

Episode Thirteen

For Episode Thirteen the podcast has tattooed Hate and Love on its knuckles.

Just To See What Happens occurs on a brief tram ride, a quick study of how we react to fear, and how we turn the lives of others into entertainment. The Bloomsday Girl is just a girl who can’t say no, in a good way, in an eye opening, love inducing way.

Make friends with the dark and the light, you’ll encounter both no matter which path you choose. Better to meet friends along your road than to meet enemies.

Cult Following

The Laird and Musetrap have agreed that one of them has to die to ensure a cult following.

They don’t believe this will affect their working relationship.

Episode Twelve

The words classic, classics, classical, do any two people agree on their meanings?

Episode Twelve is a couple of stories, Via Cruelty, a story from the classics, and Zimmerman’s On A Tuesday Night, a speculation on a rant about a classical composer. It’s unlikely either piece shines any light on what classic, classics or classical mean to the authors, or to anyone else.

In a rare moment of camaraderie The Laird had to admit that the music on Via Cruelty is bloody marvellous, a nod to Debussy, a cultural trail of breadcrumb tones. Musetrap was heard to say, “aw, yep, thanks man”.

Episode Eleven

Episode Eleven is in three parts, all loosely connected.

Short tales of working class dreaming, the time when you’ve left home and made your way, when you have enough, but no more than enough. Contentment with a shabby little apartment, knowing there is more out there in the world.

The Laird dedicates St Kilda: Architecture - 1850 To 1970 to Jacqueline Elizabeth Scanlon.

Testament

She didn’t have kids,

So when I die

My last words

Will be the last time

Anyone

Says her name.

Two Guitar Cases is a simple measurement of floor space, but in the shape of something other than squares.

And Mexico, daydreaming, together.

Episode Ten

Episode Ten, Us And The Water, a folksy chat about communing with nature, from a distant time and place.

Musetrap just shrugs and says, “everyone talks with the water around here”. The Laird becomes a little uncomfortable when his traditional view of stewardship of the land is mistaken for modern activism.
